I imagine that Todd Bentley has become somewhat of a hosehold name in many evangelical circles. It is on par with Benny Hinn, Jan and Paul Crouch, and the other TV preachers who masquerade themselves as respectable Christian leaders. There seems to be no shortage of videos on YouTube where Bentley is preaching the strangest things you've ever heard. Many bloggers were posting about him and I didn't feel a need to until now. Evidently Todd Bently has been cheating on his wife. According to the Fresh Fire Ministries website: We wish to acknowledge, however, that since our last statement from the Fresh Fire Board of Directors, we have discovered new information revealing that Todd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff. The cheating may or may not have been sexual but a husband and wife have an emotional connection which should not be violated, no matter if you are a conservative Christian couple or lunatic prosperity preachers.
The Bible tells us how husbands are to act toward their wives in Ephesians 5:25:
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
Christ does not cheat on the church, therefore husbands should not cheat on their wives. To me it is very simple, Christian leaders have sins just like anyone else. This is the type of sin that will destroy your ministry (even one as wacky as Bently's), ruin your personal life for years to come, and worst of all, will cause the unbelievers we are trying to reach to look down on Christ and the gospel we preach.
I am not married but I look forward to being married someday. I pray that my marriage will be one that represents the relationship between Jesus and the Church. Bentley is a sorry example of a Christian leader. Please do not judge my religion by the words or actions of this man.

UPDATE 12/4/2008: Todd Bentley is called an Adulterer by Fresh Fire Board.

well said. Even if someone hasn't been following Todd's "ministry" then the latest news should at the very least be an eye opener. I believe what people like this do is drive away potential believers. It's a shame, and I don't want to ve equated with Todd either.
Hi Glenn thanks for visiting my blog .Like you Ihad no urge to write anything about bentley until the divorce issue came up and as you well said in your comment.
Godbless you for your comment and this post will be an eye opener that we should only look to Jesus CHrist our Lord and Savior
Godbless
I agree. I will say that I am disappointed by Team Pyro's recent response. I think Ed Stetzer's (you should know him since you are now fully sbc)response is a bit better. Check out what I've posted about it. Oh and Lorikate's pages are pretty cool too.
I just heard about him cheating on his wife. devastating. just found your blog googling myself more insight. pretty sad. man...
